A little about my story…

I am Wendy Llamas (she/her), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW #85521) in North Orange County, California. I provided community based mental health services in school settings from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, I spent several years working with children and families in the education field and in child welfare services.

Like so many clinicians, my journey as a therapist began in my own childhood. I grew up in Eastern Los Angeles County as the Spanglish speaking daughter of a Tex-Mex dad and Mexican mama. Throughout my developmental years, I struggled with anxiety and self-esteem issues which were the product of my upbringing. For a long time, I held onto the pain of my childhood and in my work, I unknowingly took on the role of becoming the adult/helper I wish I had as a child.

Through my own therapy, trainings, and other forms of healing, I have been able to work through many of my childhood wounds. The lessons and experiences from my personal healing journey go into the empathy and deep desire to let those I serve feel less alone in their experiences, and more seen, heard, and understood.

On the more light-hearted side…

I enjoy all kinds of music, concerts, and traveling. I find binge watching reality TV shows as restorative as yoga and walks outdoors.

Some of my identities include: daughter, sister, tia/aunt, nina/godmother, amiga, introvert, middle child, and Libra sun/moon (so sensitive!).
